Halloween is over and the next upcoming event is perhaps the biggest of the year: Christmas. While this can be one of the most joyous times of year, it can also be one of the most overbearing and stressful. Many of us find ourselves rushing around last minute trying to gather presents together, find the ingredients for Christmas dinner, purchase table decorations and crackers and a new string of fairy lights because the bulbs on the tree have blown. The good news? All of this can be avoided with a little simple organisation. Now, the odd person may scowl at the mere mention of Christmas before the 1st December. But if you get certain things out of the way before the commencement of the final month of the year, you can spend the first twenty five days of December actually enjoying the festive season and having a little spare time to put your feet up in front of the fire with a cup of hot chocolate and your favorite festive films on the television. If this sounds good to you, here are a few areas to focus on.
Presents
One of the most stressful parts of Christmas can be trying to find the right gifts for each of your loved ones. Why? Because most of the time you cross your fingers and head into a shop hoping that the right thing might just so happen to jump off the shelf and into your basket. Presents take time and thought. So get thinking now! Digging for information on what different people might like is a lot more subtle when done months in advance. This also allows extra time for delivery and transportation through customs should the item they desire be out of the country or more difficult to get a hold of. If the gift is a one-off or something that is on special offer at any given point, it may be worth taking out a payday advance that will allow you to purchase the goods while making the most of the offer and to repay the amount once your wages have gone into your bank account.
Food
Now, we wouldn’t recommend getting fresh ingredients in quite yet. After all, they’ll go off well before the big day comes around. However, certain key items can be ordered in advance and delivered to you or picked up at a store just a few days before Christmas itself. This is a great option that you should take up for centerpieces, such as lavish Christmas puddings or Christmas cakes. Once the order is placed, you can tick a few large items off your food shopping list and rest assured that they won’t sell out before you get your fair share.
Spares and Replacements
It’s always a good idea to have extras and replacements at hand, just in case. Consider having a spare string of fairy lights (for if bulbs blow in your first string), extra lighters to set the Christmas pud aflame, extra seats should a surprise guest turn up, and spare batteries for any toys that might not come with them in the packet. It’s always better to be safe than sorry.
So, get started and enjoy December for all it’s worth rather than rushing around fueled by stress!
