Are you someone that’s always running a million miles a minute? Is your to-do list as long as your arm and then some? Are the social butterfly, the leader, the carer, the provider, the supporter? If you have answered yes to any (or all) of these questions, then it’s safe to say that life may be lived in the fast lane for you! Maybe you’re someone that wants to do, see, and experience it all? Maybe you have a lot of commitments in life, and you don’t want to let anyone down? Or maybe you’re someone that just likes to be busy? Now, while all of this is fine – because you are who you are- being so busy and on the go all of the time can be tough. It can affect your health and your happiness. So it’s really important for you to think about slowing down a little if you can. And here’s why.
Mental Health
First of all, you have to be aware of what this does to your mental health – and your stress levels, in particular. Sure, right now, you feel as if you’ve got it all down. You’re not stressed because you’re happy! But if you sit down and really think about it, you probably are showing signs of stress. Maybe you’re having breakouts, or you suffer with anxiety, or you’re not sleeping? Girl, slow down and it will help!
Energy Levels
Then, there are your energy levels. Sure, when you’re doing it all, you feel like you’re on the go and fueled well. but are you really? Are you using caffeine to fuel you? Or sugar? Or alcohol in the evenings? If you know that you’re not really as naturally energized as you should be, take a step back, look in the mirror, and see where you’re going wrong.
Physical Health
But then also, when you’re always on the go, it takes it out on your physical health too. You may find that your body starts to show signs of wear, and sometimes it can be irreversible. Sure, there are always options available to you, like low vision aids, when your health deteriorates, but isn’t it better to try to stop that from happening in the first place? From your eyesight to your joints, make sure that you are putting your body first, and not your to-do list!
Relationships
And you know that it can have an effect on your relationships too. If you’re always on the go, then you may not have the time to put into nurturing the relationships that should be super important to you. And that’s really not good!
Quality Of Life
And finally, one of the most important reasons for why you should think about slowing down a little is so that you can actually enjoy your life! When you’re doing too much or always rushing around, your quality of life will suffer. Instead, you want to make sure that you’re focusing on improving it. So, if you are able to take some work off of your plate or just change the pace a little, you can start to focus on being happier in life.
