Business is all about communication. If you’re not talking to the people around you – and this can be potential customers, existing clients and other companies that you are trading with – you will see your profits fall. This is even more important to take note of when you’re a freelancer or self employed. Taking control of your business is more about taking control of how you are getting in touch with the people that you need to. Even if you’re not in business, or are employed elsewhere and are just trying to sell a few handmade crafts on Etsy, nobody will know that you’re there unless you start talking about yourself. But it’s not just business that this applies to, really. It’s the same for a whole myriad of other things in your life too.
This Goes For Your Blog, Too…
If you’re a blogger, you’ll know that one of the only ways to get noticed is to get in touch with those who are within your blogging community. Publishing yourself on social media sites such as Twitter and Facebook is also great, but it also means that you’re opening yourself up for people who aren’t necessarily interested in what you’ve got to say. You’ve got to realize that your tastes may not be in line with everybody else’s, but that’s okay. That’s just how the world works.
And Your Friends…
You’ve got to make the effort and pop up every once in awhile rather than waiting for others to do it for you. If you’re not too fussed about checking your phone to see who’s been in touch, get Kik on your desktop PC to chat to your friends while you’re working and pottering about on your computer. If you know that you text too much, try picking up the phone to talk to one of your friends. Always try to go one better. Take a trip out and surprise one of them at home; that way you get to do the best form of communicating and talk to each other face to face.
And Also Your Work!
The more you communicate in your workplace, if you’re employed, the more chance you have got of progression. Getting across how you’re feeling, how you think that the company can improve, what you’re worried about and a whole host of other things is you showing that you value your job and the role that you’ve got – even if you don’t necessarily feel that way. Speaking to people acn open up doors for you, outside of your workplace too if you are looking further afield. Being able to get across effectively how you are wanting things to work for you should not be seen as an irritating sign, but instead one that conveys a certain set of management and leadership skills that all of the top bosses are looking for. So maybe all of that chatting to friends, blogging, messaging and phoning actually does have a point? Communication is key – always remember that.
