Unfortunately, no matter how great we might feel or how good things seem to be going in our lives, there are just going to be days when we don’t feel in the best of moods – this is not the same as having chronic depression or anxiety, so if this is something that’s happening consistently and you feel like you’re unhappy more than you’re happy, then it could be time to consider looking into speaking to someone because, both depression and anxiety are serious conditions that need to be and can be dealt with effectively.
However, if you’re just having an off day and want to make yourself feel a bit better, then we’re going to share with you in this post some tips that can help you do just that. There are many reasons you may be having a day where you’re not in the best of moods – everything from stress at work to a break up or simply not having had enough sleep can all be culprits here, but they shouldn’t be allowed to take over your life in any way.
Journal
Journaling is an excellent tool that’s recommended by many in the coaching and personal development fields – and with good reason. If you’ve ever wanted to declutter your mind and get all those subconscious thoughts and blocks out there then writing them down is the way to go. If you have no idea how to get started with journaling, there are plenty of resources online to help you, but definitely give this a try when not feeling in your best mood because, not only can it help you uncover why you’re in a bad mood, but help you resolve it, too.
Treat yourself
Self-care should be a priority, yet it’s something that most of us are really bad at – mainly because we’re taught from an early age that it’s selfish to look after ourselves, when in fact the opposite is true. Treating yourself to something like a nice lunch, a weekend away at a spa hotel, or even just a pedicure are all great ways to lift your mood and take care of yourself at the same time.
Get outside
It’s a scientific fact that nature and fresh air are, not only great for our physical health, but also our mental health. Exercise is a great way to boost your mood, so is fresh air and just being in nature, so even taking a 20 minute walk in your local park can really make a world of difference to your mood.
Clean up your house
Although it’s likely the last thing you feel like doing when in a bad mood – and in fact, may even be the reason for your bad mood in the first place, cleaning and tidying your home can make you feel so much better when you get rid of any clutter that’s taking up energy in your house. You’ll also be getting some exercise which is never a bad thing, so if you’re looking to give your mood a boost, then get out one of your favorite lightweight portable cleaners and see what a difference it can make.
