Based on the writing and interactions from his Facebook page – with over 578,000 fans and growing – Orlando translates his personal connection with hundreds of thousands of fans into real-world advice for men, women and relationships.
What sets Orlando apart from other relationship experts is his deep connection with his fans. He receives an average of 525 “likes” and 120 comments per post, and nearly 60% of his fan-base returns to his Facebook page every month. In an effort to provide context about his engagement rate, Orlando recorded the process and activity of a live status posting. Titled “6 Minutes on Facebook”, the YouTube video shows how quickly supporters on his Facebook page engage and interact once he makes a post.
“Charles’s insight into modern relationships is remarkable, and it’s all based on his research, his experience, and his real-world relationship laboratory on Facebook,” said John Gray, author of the Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus book series, the best-selling relationship book series of all-time. “By engaging with hundreds of thousands of men and women on Facebook about the relationship issues they care about most, Charles offers fans the wisdom, advice and reflections that they are hungry for, keeping them coming back day after day.”
Orlando’s latest book also reflects changing trends on how readers consume content. According to CNET, over 5.5 million Kindle Fire units were sold in the last quarter of 2011, and industry analysts are projecting Apple to sell 116 million iPhones and 55 million iPads in 2012. To address this rising trend, The Problem with Women… is Men – Volume 2 is available to readers as an eBook but with an interactive Facebook component, with links included to connect on Facebook and “like” different writings, read comments or get involved in the conversation. This first-of-its-kind book offering allows readers to expand the discussion and engage with Charles himself on a daily basis.
Generating half-a-million Likes on Facebook is a feat few authors and entities have achieved, and Orlando has done it as the sole administrator on his Facebook Page. As reference, The Problem with Women… is Men Facebook page has 50% more Likes than international publication Rolling Stone Magazine (394,000), and nearly six times the number of Likes as the best-selling book series Chicken Soup for the Soul (100,000). Orlando’s “Like” and engagement status places his book’s Facebook Page in the top 100 Facebook Pages in the “Books” category (source: AllFacebook.com), and his growing popularity has led to him being considered as host of two different TV talk shows and a radio show, and a recent article being optioned for film.
The Problem with Women… is Men – Volume 2: A Social Media Memoir includes the top 240 posts from Orlando’s Facebook page as well as many of his published articles. It is available as an eBook for $0.99 for the Kindle and Kindle Fire on Amazon.com, for the Nook @ BN.com, and on the iPhone or iPad at the iTunes iBookstore. The paperback is available for $9.99 through Amazon.com and bookstores everywhere.
